Donna Parsons, CET President, Canadian Operations
Ms. Parsons joined the Tekoil team as Vice President, Corporate Relations, on June 1st, 2006 and in December 2007, was promoted to President, Canadian Operations.
Donna was born and educated in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, graduating from the College of the North Atlantic’s Petroleum Engineering Technology program in 1993. In 1998, she began an eight-year career within the Newfoundland and Labrador government as a Petroleum Engineering Technologist (for the first 7 ½ years) and then as an Industrial Benefits Officer, both within the Department of Natural Resources. During this period at the Department of Natural Resources, she was able to meet key industry players and establish strong relationships with many government departments and officials.
Donna is an active member of the certification and review board of Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists of Newfoundland and Labrador, an organization that promotes engineering technology education and careers to young Newfoundlanders and Labradoreans. She was awarded the President’s Award for the association at its 39th AGM held in 2007. She most recently participated in promoting future careers in oil and gas to high school students through the efforts of the Petroleum Industry Human Resources Committee (PIHRC) and appeared in a promotional video for the College of the North Atlantic to encourage students to enroll in the engineering programs offered by the College.
In October of 2007, Donna took part in the Atlantic Canada Technology Roundtable on Prince Edward Island where 50 participants from all over Atlantic Canada were invited to address concerns related to Canada’s critical shortage in its skilled workforce – an issue that will have significant economic consequences if not addressed. As part of this ongoing issue of concern, Donna will travel to Ottawa to participate in an advisory committee for “Integrating Technically Immigrants to the Canadian Workforce” on the national level.
As part of her new role as Tekoil’s President of Canadian Operations, Donna feels it is important that industry supports those areas challenged by a depleting workforce through encouraging local youth and promoting the Province’s potential in the oil and gas sector. |
